Details of life and personality of Hal - interviewee met Hal summer of 1967 between university terms, classical music in the background, Hal was friend of interviee`s lover and was 45 when he met them, Hal had a masters in History, was a school teacher, interviee was 20, gap in audio to test microphone at 0:01:46, Hal went to U of T, orginally from Manitoba, Borden street in Toronto, interviewee rented from Hal there, Hal met interviee`s lover in the navy in the 50s, interest in theatre and Canadian theatre, Canadian politics, a nationalist, active in the `vig payers` association in his neighbourhood, associated with the NDP, frequented gay bar scene in Toronto, also went to bathhouses. Hal was attacked, roomate found him. The Quest and the Carriage house bars. Interviewee identified the body. Stabbed five times in the back and once through the heart. Some things were stolen from the apartment. Topic: depression. Good friends with Gary who lived with Hal. Cemetery at Parliament and Bloor where the funeral was held. Small attendance. Hal owned four houses and rented them out in sections. He was born in Alberta in a small town, north of Calgary. Grew up during the depression, `admirable frugality`. After his service, worked for Air Canada, then started teaching Canadian history. Murderer had not yet been caught. -Attached to case are hand written notes that may want to be scanned and uploaded. Drawn on the inside of the case is figure of a male torso masturbating, perhaps should be photographed. Accession number is unknown as of 2019-03-11. Update record if found.
