Bonnie Jean Bewley has been in a conjugal relationship with Kimberly Ann Michelle Crawford since 1990 and had their union blessed in a formal ceremony at Christos Metropolitan Community Centre in October 19, 1991. On July 3, 1991, Bonnie and Michelle Crawford-Bewley applied to have their names hyphenated on the basis of a Declaration of Conjugal Relationship but was rejected because of the Change of Name Act, 1986 which specifies that this provision applies to a man and woman who file a joint declaration of conjugal relationship. Bonnie Crawford-Bewley was also a member of Integrity (Toronto), an organization for gay and lesbian Anglicans and their friends.
